Kat and Christopher | Nittany Lion Inn | State College, PA

When a story’s as good as theirs, its never too late to tell it. And what better way to spend this cold January New England day than to tell the story of Kat and Christopher’s wedding on the campus of their mutual alma matter, Penn State University. While they were not students on campus at the same time, PSU plays a significant role in their relationship.

As they tell it: Christopher met Kat’s sister during his first day as a Penn State freshman. They became good friends over the course of their years at Happy Valley. The first time Kat and Christopher met she was spending a weekend visiting her big sister at college. Although Christopher thought Kat was immensely annoying (their words) at the time, that changed once their paths crossed a number of years down the road. In a series of events that unfolded like a romantic comedy, he got the girl, and they fell in love.

They moved to New York City and eventually Brooklyn. They both love to travel (one of the themes of their wedding) and love Penn State so much that they decided to go to Dublin, Ireland to see the Nittany Lions play a football game. It was at the airport at the end of the trip when Christopher shocked Kat – they got on a plane to Paris! He proposed around midnight on the banks of the Seine, the Eiffel Tower providing a dazzling backdrop. Yes, just as cliche (again, their words) dreamy and romantic as it sounds.

“Getting married at Penn State was an obvious choice for us. It’s a place that has meant so much to us as individuals and as a couple. Every time we walk onto campus, it feels like home.

Our wedding was incredible – simply the best! We held our ceremony at the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens and Arboretum and were blessed with gorgeous weather. Our entire wedding day was so much fun, but the ceremony was our favorite part. We were in the presence of so much love and support, all set against a beautiful backdrop. We’ll never forget how absolutely perfect those moments felt to us – the beautiful music, the light breeze, and being able to promise love and respect to one another in front of our closest friends and family. It was a dream come true”.

And a follow up to this romantic story of our dear friends Kat and Christopher, this past July their adventure took a whole new twist and they moved back to the scene of Christopher’s proposal, Paris, France, where they now reside. How perfect is that! Hope you enjoy this taste of their wedding day. Love you, K&C!
