Niki and Tim’s Wedding | Westbury Manor | Long Island
Do you think a little rain could have stopped Niki and Tim and their friends (many of whom were already “our” friends) and family from having the most amazing celebration to honor their wedding day? Certainly not. The most wonderful couple (who truly know how to party). Friends for life! Congratulations once again Niki and Tim.
“Tim proposed on October 21, 2012 and we always joke about it because I never said “yes.” I was actually in my pajamas and had no idea what was going to happen. When he asked me to marry him, I kept responding, “I’m in my pajamas.” I guess that meant, “yes” according to Tim.
A week later Hurricane Sandy hit and I was unsure if wedding planning was possible because I was affected as well family and close friends. I thought I should put it on hold. I remember my parents and friends saying that we need to come together and put this behind us and need to plan a happy occasion. So Tim and I began looking at venues.
Believe it or not Westbury Manor was not our first choice. The place we originally wanted and looked at was also affected badly by the hurricane. We could not take the chance of booking there because of the damages and not knowing what it would like after renovations. So Tim and I went to a few different venues and were just not happy. My sister happened to be with us and drove to Westbury Manor, where she had gotten married 7 years before. I always wanted to be different than her, which is why I didn’t go there first. We talked with several different people and they were aware of what happened with the hurricane and opened us with open arms. After taking a look around this beautiful venue and talking with all the workers who treated us like family, we finally agreed that this was the place.
So on March 29, 2014 Tim and I were married. Despite the rain, and when I say rain, I mean buckets of water from the sky, everything turned out perfect. The morning of I tried many old Italian Superstitions to stop the rain but none of the seemed to work. However, I knew the rain was not stopping anyone from having a good time. My makeup artist Marisa Giacalone Paradis (and now good friend) was one of the first people at my house that morning that made me feel calm and of course beautiful. John Miller and Bruce Plotkin made a great team. They worked so well together. They made the wedding very memorable for both Tim and I. The dance floor was packed all night long thanks to James Tubridy from DJ’s @ work. One thing Tim and I wanted was for everyone to dance all night long and that was the case because the variety of music was perfect. To this day many friends and family tell us how much fun they had at our wedding. The staff at Westbury Manor were amazing. They made the wedding the most memorable occasion, just the way Tim and I had dreamed of.
The rain must have been extra good luck for Tim and I. We are both so happy together and think of all the things we have been through along the way. We look back at our wedding day and are so thankful to have found each other.”
