Amanda and Todd’s Wedding | The Inn at Longshore By OnTheMarc| Westport, Ct.
Now what do you get when you have a wedding with two rising stars in the television news industry, with their wedding taking place on one of this summer’s most beautiful June weekends, with some of our favorite people at the Inn at Longshore by OnTheMarc? Well, dare I say, one very special wedding celebration! But who to better tell their story than our bride, Amanda Raus, formerly of NBC Ct., now the morning anchor at Fox, Ct. (her “groom” Todd Piro, morning anchor at NBC Ct.). I guarantee you’ll love their story as much as I do. Congratulations to the simply enchanting and fun loving Amanda and Todd!! See you on the morning news!
How we met:
Todd and I met on his first day with NBC Connecticut. He says he knew the day he met me that I was the one, so I guess you could say it was love at first sight! We started dating a few months later. Todd had asked me to go to a Dartmouth-Yale football game with him. We went to the game and followed it up with an early dinner on Wooster Street in New Haven. Our dinner was very early (around 3 p.m.) because the two of us had to anchor the Sunday morning news together the next day. I think it was the most nervous I had ever been anchoring the news!
How we got engaged:
We were visiting Todd’s parents in New Jersey for Memorial Day weekend. Unbeknownst to me, Todd spent the day decorating the widow’s peak at the top of the house. He was waiting until sunset to propose, but during dinner, a double rainbow appeared outside. Todd knew he had to seize the opportunity and asked me to look at the rainbow from a few stories up. When I climbed up the ladder onto the roof, Todd had decorated it with candles, roses and champagne. He had one of my favorite singers, Billy Joel, on in the background. It was then that he got down on one knee and proposed. I said “Yes!” Then, Todd surprised me once again. My parents had made the trip to New Jersey to celebrate.
Just as we did after our first date, Todd and I anchored together on Memorial Day. We were able to share the happy news on-air, which is an experience we’ll never forget. We saved the video to hopefully show our kids one day. We knew we wanted to video our Wedding day so we got in touch with The Perfect Wedding Video company so we’d be able to add this to our collection.
Our wedding day:
We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day. The dress was perfect (phew!) and quite similar to one found on this website. It was absolutely perfect from the first minutes of the ceremony at St. Stephen Church in Trumbull to the last few minutes out on the dance floor at the Inn at Longshore in Westport. The day was truly magical. The weather was perfect. The setting was beautiful. When we first started planning our wedding, we wanted it to be a fun day with good food, drinks and music. We wanted it to be a big party, and we weren’t disappointed! All of the vendors we worked with were amazing and the level of service we received at the Inn at Longshore was extraordinary. But what made the day the most special was getting to share our big day with our family and friends. When we look back at Bruce’s photos and see all the smiling faces of those who were there with us, we feel so blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives.
